Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir has urged the Commonwealth to renew its efforts to strengthen climate resilience, mobilise investment and facilitate the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

He made the call while addressing the retreat session of the Pre-CHOGM Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting at the American University of Antigua in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, on Monday, said a foreign ministry press release in Dhaka on  Tuesday.

He stressed the need to operationalise the Loss and Damage Fund and establish a unified mechanism to mobilise intra-Commonwealth investment.

Kobir also sought concerted support from Commonwealth nations for the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

Highlighting an increasingly complex global landscape, he urged renewed efforts to address shared challenges encompassing peace and security, climate resilience, energy and food security, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.

The acting foreign minister is visiting Antigua and Barbuda to lead the Bangladesh delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), being held from 1 to 4 November.
