The two Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams that were postponed due to the tragic jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara will now be held on the same day, Education Adviser CR Abrar said on Wednesday.

He told reporters at the Secretariat that the July 22 exam will be held in the morning and the July 24 exam in the afternoon, though the specific date will be announced later through an official notice.

“We have finalised that both postponed exams will take place on the same day—July 22 in the morning and July 24 in the afternoon,” said Abrar.

“The notification with the exact date will be issued soon.”

The announcement comes amid growing frustration among students, some of whom staged protests on Tuesday demanding the resignation of the education adviser for the delay in officially confirming the exam postponements after Monday’s accident.

Acknowledging students’ concerns, Abrar said their anxieties are understandable and assured that the new schedule would be made public in due course.

The jet crash occurred around noon on Monday when a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft slammed into the Milestone School and College building, triggering a massive fire. At least 32 people, including two teachers and the pilot, were killed, while many others sustained injuries.

The government declared Tuesday a day of national mourning to honour the victims of the tragedy.
