Around 12,000 law enforcement personnel, including an additional 4,000 police officers, were deployed across Dhaka to maintain security during a rally organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Alongside police, members of the Detective Branch (DB) provided intelligence surveillance, while several thousand Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members were kept on standby.
Jamaat also deployed 6,000 volunteers for internal coordination. The entire security arrangement was monitored through CCTV from the police control room.
According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), approximately 5,000 buses, some of them microbuses, entered Dhaka from various districts to transport party leaders and activists to the rally.
Buses were parked at designated locations across the city: 1,200 at the Agargaon trade fair ground, 300 at Jurain-Dholai Par, 125 at Postogola, 30 near Joykali Mandir, 513 in Motijheel-Dilkusha-Bak Chattar-Aarambagh, 300 at Sabujbagh, 300 at Kamalapur, 150 in Purbachal, 180 near New Market, 218 along Agargaon-Manik Mia Avenue-Shishu Mela, 300 at Tejgaon-BFDC-Hatirjheel-Karwan Bazar, 380 across Babubazar Bridge, and 240 in Lalbagh. Police reported that hundreds of additional buses were parked at other locations around Dhaka.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Mohammad Sarwar said specific parking spots were designated in advance. However, no buses were parked at the Uttara Sector-17 Bou Bazar spot, while the Agargaon fairground was fully occupied. Around 200 buses were parked in 300 Feet Purbachal. Roads in Motijheel, Paltan, and Aarambagh areas were used for on-street parking. Private cars and microbuses were mainly parked around Dhaka University.
In addition to regular train services, Jamaat chartered four pairs of special trains from Mymensingh, Sirajganj, Rajshahi, and Chattogram. Md. Abdul Awal, assistant chief operating superintendent representing the GM of Western Railway, confirmed the train rentals.
From southern districts, three separate launches carried activists from Patuakhali launch ghat, Bauphal, and Galachipa, according to district Jamaat Secretary Professor Shahidullah Al Qaisari.
Chandpur city Jamaat Ameer Advocate Shahjahan Khan said three launches departed from Chandpur launch ghat and two from Matlab South, transporting activists from Kachua and Matlab upazilas.
Chandpur district Ameer Maulana Md. Billal Hossain Miazi claimed that although over 50,000 activists were prepared to join the rally, about 30,000 participated. District Secretary Advocate Md. Shahjahan Khan reported that activists used five launches and 50 buses to attend.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime & Ops) SM Nazrul Islam said 8,000 additional police officers were stationed at police stations and outposts, in addition to the 4,000 deployed specifically for the event. Eight traffic divisions of the DMP managed road movement, and plainclothes intelligence officers were also deployed.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Wing Commander M Z M Intakher Chowdhury stated that RAB patrol units were deployed around the rally venue, with extra checkpoints set up for security.
Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam said that adequate police were deployed both in uniform and plainclothes around Suhrawardy Udyan. Traffic police managed designated parking spots for incoming vehicles from across the country.
