Bangladesh is likely to experience widespread rain and thunderstorms over the next three days as active monsoon conditions continue.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the monsoon will remain active, bringing rainfall with occasional gusty winds. The pattern is expected to persist beyond the three‑day outlook starting Saturday (Aug 1).
Residents, particularly in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas, were advised to stay alert to updated forecasts and take precautions during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
According to its latest bulletin of the BMD, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely across much of the country, with moderately heavy falls in some areas.
On Saturday, rain and thundershowers are likely in many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, while Rajshahi and Khulna may see showers at a few locations.
Moderately heavy rainfall is possible in parts of the country. Day temperatures may rise slightly; night temperatures will remain nearly unchanged.
On Sunday (2 August), rainfall activity will continue. Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions are likely to see light to moderate showers, while Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka may receive rain at a few places.
Isolated areas may face moderately heavy rainfall while day temperatures will stay almost unchanged; night temperatures may rise slightly.
On Monday (3 August), the wet spell is expected to become more widespread, with rain and thunderstorms at most places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions may also witness showers at several locations. Moderately heavy rainfall is likely in some areas, while both day and night temperatures will remain largely unchanged.
