Heavy rainfall has raised the risk of landslides in several hilly areas in and around Chattogram, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban, and Cox’s Bazar districts

Met office has issued the warning asking residents of those areas to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

The weather alert also mentioned that heavy rain may cause temporary waterlogging in some parts of Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas.

Due to low-pressure over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas, heavy (44-88mm/24hrs) to very heavy (88mm/24hrs) rainfall is predicted to occur at many places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions during next 48 hours commencing from the evening of Tuesday, the alert mentioned.

Concurrently, in the capital, rainfall envelopes the city in a drizzle, cooling the heatwave of the past few days.
