Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons will miss the second One-Day International of the ongoing three-match series against Sri Lanka due to a medical appointment, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Friday.
Simmons is set to fly to London on 4 July and is expected to return to Sri Lanka by 7 July. In his absence, the coaching staff will manage team preparations for the crucial second ODI.
Bangladesh currently trail 0-1 in the series following a heavy defeat in the opening match in Colombo. The team will be aiming to level the series in Saturday’s fixture and force a decider in the final ODI.
Simmons’ temporary absence comes at a pivotal point for the side, which is under pressure to respond strongly after a disappointing performance in the first game.
