Hasnat Abdullah, chief coordinator (Southern region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), was reportedly attacked by a group of unidentified individuals in Gazipur’s Chandana area on Sunday evening.

The incident first came to light through a Facebook post by Abdul Hannan Masud, a senior NCP leader, who urged nearby party supporters to rush to the spot for Hasnat’s safety.

“Hasnat Abdullah’s car has come under attack in Chandana, Gazipur. Anyone nearby, please come forward immediately,” Masud wrote on his verified Facebook account.

Sarjis Alam, NCP’s chief coordinator (Northern region), echoed the report, stating that around 10–12 men carried out the assault. “The car’s windows were smashed, and Hasnat’s hand is bleeding. Those nearby, please protect him,” he wrote.

Locals reported seeing Hasnat near the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Gacha Police Station, according to UNB.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (South) Nasir Uddin confirmed to reporters that he was en route to the scene after receiving preliminary reports.

Meanwhile, the NCP’s Dhaka metropolitan committee has announced a protest march tonight at around 10:00pm in front of the party’s temporary office at Rupayan Tower in Banglamotor, condemning the attempted murder and terrorist attack on NCP’s chief coordinator of the southern region.
