Gulistan fire under control

A fire that broke out at Sundarban Square Super Market in Dhaka’s Gulistan area on Saturday morning has been brought under control, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defense.

The blaze was first reported around 10am on the fourth floor of the market. Firefighters reached the scene within minutes, with the first unit arriving at 10:03am. A total of 11 units were eventually deployed, nine of which actively worked to control the flames, while two remained on standby.

Fire Service and Civil Defense Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman, speaking from the site, confirmed that the fire was brought under control by 11:12am. Witnesses reported smoke billowing from the building as late as 11am, while business owners and staff were seen assisting firefighters in dousing the fire.

No casualties have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
