Could Hamza Choudhury’s time at Leicester City be coming to an end? Despite returning to the Foxes after a half-season loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday, reports suggest the midfielder—of Bangladeshi heritage—may be on the move once again.
According to Greek journalist Georges Sanakas, Greek giants Olympiacos have expressed strong interest in bringing Choudhury to Piraeus this summer. Speaking to BwinSports FM, Sanakas claimed that the Greek champions are looking to bolster their squad during the transfer window, with Choudhury being one of the names already on their radar.
The 26-year-old, known for his versatility and tenacity, is seen as a good tactical fit for José Luis Mendilibar’s style of play. Sanakas reported that the player’s name has already reached the desks of Olympiacos’ recruitment team, and the club believes he could adapt seamlessly to their system.
However, Sanakas also clarified that talks remain at a preliminary stage. “It’s still early days in the negotiation process,” he said. “Whether the move materialises or not, we will have to wait and see.”
Choudhury played a pivotal role in Sheffield Wednesday’s strong push towards the Championship play-offs during his brief loan spell. Despite having two years remaining on his contract with Leicester City, the club is reportedly open to letting him go—a factor Olympiacos are keen to capitalise on.
Having secured their 48th league title this season, Olympiacos further cemented their status as the most successful club in Greek football. The addition of a Premier League-experienced player like Choudhury could prove a significant step as they aim to strengthen ahead of another competitive campaign.
