Thousands of Muslim devotees in Dhaka marked the sacred occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi on Saturday, with a vibrant and grand Jashn-e-Julus procession celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The procession, led by Dr Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari, Chairman of Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) and President of ‘Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria,’ began from the western gate of Suhrawardy Udyan. The rally moved through Doel Chattar, Shikkha Bhaban, and Kadam Fountain before returning to the starting point.
Devotees from all parts of the country gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan from early morning, creating a festive and spiritual atmosphere. This yearâs celebration was of particular significance as it marked the 1500th anniversary of the Prophetâs birth.
Participants, including a large number of women, displayed flags inscribed with the Kalema, placards, festoons, and a giant national flag. The processionâs inclusivity and unity were evident in the diverse participation of devotees.
In a brief address before the procession, Dr Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari emphasized the universal message of the Prophet (PBUH). âThe Prophet was a divine mercy to all of humanity, and his teachings remain a timeless guide for creating a just, peaceful, and compassionate society,â he said.
Dr Maizbhandari also spoke out against rising global unrest and violence, stressing that the Prophetâs message of brotherhood, harmony, and humanity offers the only path to true peace.
âWe must embrace the true spirit of Eid-e-Miladunnabi not just in celebration, but in practice, within our personal, familial, and national lives,â he added. âOnly then can we illuminate society with the light of peace, unity, and compassion.â
