Grameenphone, Bangladesh’s leading telecommunications provider, has recently launched its innovative “AI & I” program, marking a major step in its transformation into an AI-Native Telco-Tech company.

This groundbreaking initiative cements Grameenphone’s position as a leader in redefining telecommunications through customer-centric AI advancements, according to a press release.

The program is a cornerstone of Grameenphone’s broader AI First strategy, aimed at ensuring seamless integration, rapid execution, and widespread adoption of AI throughout the organization. Focused on enhancing both customer experiences and empowering employees, the program showcases Grameenphone’s dedication to sustainable growth in a dynamic digital ecosystem.

Yasir Azman, Grameenphone’s CEO, emphasized the significance of the initiative: “AI & I is more than just a program—it represents a movement. We believe that the future is shaped not by AI alone but by the partnership of AI and individuals, working together. With this initiative, we are putting the power of AI in every employee’s hands, enabling us to deliver services with enhanced intelligence, empathy, and relevance.”

He further explained, “At Grameenphone, AI is not just a technology shift but a people shift. ‘AI & I’ ensures smarter customer experiences because our people are becoming more agile, faster, and empowered.”

Grameenphone is strategically integrating AI across its operations, from network management to customer service and marketing. The use of AI is allowing the company to offer faster, more personalized experiences for its 86 million customers. The AI-driven innovations include customized offers tailored to individual preferences, intelligent HR bots that improve workplace productivity, and AI-assisted network optimization to enhance service quality.

Grameenphone has taken a pioneering role by launching the country’s first enterprise-grade AI Factory, developed in collaboration with Cisco and powered by NVIDIA GPU technology. This facility is designed to speed up the development and deployment of AI models. Additionally, Grameenphone has initiated a company-wide AI training program for employees and launched the “GP Ideathon” to crowdsource AI-driven solutions within the organization, ensuring innovation at every level.

This combination of advanced infrastructure, targeted use cases, and employee engagement underscores Grameenphone’s commitment to leading the charge in AI-native telecommunications, setting the stage for continued innovation not just in Bangladesh but across the region.
