Grameenphone, the leading mobile phone operator in the country, has launched ‘Grameenphone One’, a digital services platform, with an eye to expanding the company’s role beyond telecommunications and into integrated digital solutions.

Unveiled at an event in Dhaka on Thursday, the platform combines connectivity, content, and security services, targeting users such as freelancers, gamers, and online consumers.

‘Grameenphone One’ marks a change in the company’s direction—from providing mobile services to offering broader digital tools. The platform introduces new services intended to improve everyday digital access and safety.

The launching ceremony was attended by Major General (retd) Md Emdad Ul Bari, chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC), who described the move as a step towards building a more secure digital infrastructure.

BTRC Vice-Chairman Md Abu Bakar Siddique and senior officials of the regulator were also present at the event.

Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman said the platform responds to the evolving needs of younger users and professionals.

He said ‘Grameenphone One’ was designed to support those using digital tools for work, entertainment, and communication.

Key features of the platform include GP Shield, a digital security tool; Bioscope+, an OTT content aggregator; and One Games, a gaming hub with access to over 5,000 titles.

Grameenphone also announced updates to its home internet service GPFi and its IoT-based smart home system Alo.

BTRC Chairman Bari highlighted the relevance of tools like GP Shield amid growing online security risks. He called for responsible innovation to support secure digital access.

An interactive product showcase at the event allowed attendees to test the new features, including security applications and entertainment platforms.

The event ended with remarks from Grameenphone’s senior executives, who emphasised the company’s goal of offering integrated services across internet safety, content delivery, and smart living.

Grameenphone One is intended to serve as a central platform for future digital offerings and marks the company’s transition toward becoming a broader technology service provider.
