BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that if ‘July Charter’ is not realised this month, the interim government and the consensus commission will be held responsible.

He made the remarks while speaking at a pre-march gathering organised by the party in the capital on Friday to commemorate the martyrs of the 2024 mass uprising.

Salahuddin said, “Those who previously demanded elections under the local government system and the proportional representation (PR) method have dishonest intentions.”

“This government has no mandate to hold local government elections. The BNP views the interim government as a caretaker government.”

Claiming that various conspiracies are underway to create division among democratic forces, the BNP leader called on the people to uphold national unity against fascism.

Following the rally, the silent procession began in Pallabi, Mirpur and marched through various roads.
