Government doubles training allowances for officials and employees

The government has doubled the training allowances for officials and employees, with the revised rates taking immediate effect. The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.

According to the circular, the honorarium for trainers and allowances for participants in subject-based internal training programmes, organised by ministries, divisions, and their subordinate directorates, inspectorates, and offices, have been restructured.

Under the new rates, joint secretaries and officials of higher rank will now receive Tk3,600 for conducting a one-hour session, up from Tk2,500. Deputy secretaries and lower-ranked officials will receive Tk3,000 per hour, compared to the previous Tk2,000.

Training allowances for participants have also been significantly increased. Employees from Grade-9 and above will now receive Tk1,200 per day, up from Tk 600, while those from Grade-10 and below will receive Tk1,000 per day, doubled from Tk500.

Similarly, the daily honorarium for course directors has been raised from Tk1,500 to Tk2,000, for course coordinators from Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,500, and for support staff from Tk500 to Tk1,000.

The last increase in government employees’ training allowances was made in 2019.
