A woman, her husband, and their 4-month-old baby died mere hours from each other after sustaining burn injuries in a gas line explosion at their home.
They were rushed to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital with severe burn injuries but the child, Raihan, was declared dead upon arrival.
The couple were critically injured in the explosion, which had been caused by a gas line leakage at their home in in Pubail Mirer Bazar area of Tongi in Gazipur on last Sunday.
The woman, Hafiza Akter, 20, breathed her last at around 11.30pm on August 6 and her husband Ripon succumbed to his injuries two hours later while undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Burn Institute, according to Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, residential surgeon of the institute.
He said Hafiza, who had suffered 75% burns, and Ripon, with 80% burns, were admitted to the ICU, but despite all efforts, they both passed away due to their critical conditions.
