Police arrested four more individuals on Friday night in connection with the murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, bringing the total number of arrestees in the case to seven.
The Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were identified and detained after analyzing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas where Tuhin was brutally killed. The GMP Media Group announced on Saturday morning that further details would be shared during a press conference later in the day.
GMP Deputy Commissioner Rabiul Hasan told The Times of Bangladesh, “Four people were arrested till midnight (Friday) in connection with the murder of journalist Tuhin.
They were identified through CCTV footage.”

Among those arrested are Faisal alias Ketu Mizan and his wife Golapi, who were detained from the Bhabanipur area of Sadar upazila in Gazipur. Another accused, Al Amin, was arrested from the Turag area of Uttara in the capital. Additionally, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspect named Swadhin from the Hotapara area of Sadar upazila.
Earlier, Md Shah Jalal, 32—allegedly directly involved in the murder—was apprehended from Char Masland Morolpara under Gafargaon police station in Mymensingh district. Police also arrested Faisal Hasan and Sumon from the Chandopara Basan area of Gazipur.
The incident occurred on Thursday night around 8 PM, when a gang of assailants hacked journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, 32, to death. Tuhin, who was the Gazipur correspondent for a daily newspaper, had recorded a video of a public altercation in the Chandana Chowrasta area, where a group attacked a man.
According to GMP Deputy Commissioner Rabiul Islam, CCTV footage showed a dispute between a man named Badsha Mia and a woman. When Badsha struck the woman, several armed miscreants intervened in her defense and attacked Badsha.
As Badsha fled the scene, Tuhin, who had been recording the incident on his mobile phone, was confronted by the attackers. Police said the group demanded he delete the footage, but Tuhin refused. Angered by his refusal, the miscreants chased him.
Tuhin attempted to flee and took shelter in a tea stall near Mosque Market on a nearby road. However, the attackers caught up with him, hacked him to death, and fled the scene.
Tuhin resided in a rented house in Chandana with his wife and two children. He was employed in a pharmaceutical company alongside his journalistic work.
