Four killed after train rams into auto-rickshaw in Cox’s Bazar

At least four people were killed when a Chattogram-bound train crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at a railway crossing in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar’s on Saturday afternoon.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred around 2:30pm when the train from Cox’s Bazar rammed the Bharuakhali-bound auto-rickshaw while it was crossing the rail track in Dhalirchara area of Rashidnagar Union in Sadar upazila.

The vehicle has been completely destroyed and all the four passengers reportedly died on the spot.

Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Taibur Rahman confirmed the incident. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Railway Department said the train had departed from Cox’s Bazar was heading towards Chattogram when the collision occurred on Dhalirchara crossing in the afternoon.
