A Dhaka court has ordered the confiscation of multiple properties belonging to Lutfunnahar Tahmina Khan, wife of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
The properties included a 3,400 square feet four-storey building in Monipuripara, land in Tejgaon, and a 1,872 square feet flat in Pallabi. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) valued these seized assets at over Tk 6.01 crore.
In addition, six bank accounts containing Tk7.58 crore and stock in two companies have also been frozen, confirmed ACC Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam on Thursday.
In their petition, ACC Deputy Director Md Zainal Abedin presented evidence alleging that Lutfunnahar Tahmina Khan had acquired Tk 15.47 crore worth of assets through financial channels beyond her known income sources.
The case further accuses former minister Kamal of abusing his ministerial powers to facilitate these illegal acquisitions under Section 109 of the Penal Code.
Investigators identified suspicious financial transactions totaling Tk 43.78 crore through accounts held in Tahmina’s name and companies under her partial ownership.
