National Citizen Party (NCP) has issued show cause notices to five of its leaders over an unauthorised political meeting during their recent visit to Cox’s Bazar.

The leaders—Hasnat Abdullah, Tasnim Zara, Khaled Saifullah, Nasiruddin Patwary and Sarjis Alam—allegedly held discussions with individuals affiliated with a rival political platform during the first anniversary of the July Uprising and National Commemoration Day.

According to a notice signed by Acting Joint Member Secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat, the meetings took place without any prior approval or disclosure to party authorities.

In the notice dated 6 August 2025,NCP Joint Organising Secretary asked all of them are being directed to submit a written explanation within 24 hours to Converner Md Nahid Islam and disciplinary committee member Akter Hossain.

Party sources said similar directives have been sent to the other four leaders as part of an internal review.

The disciplinary move reflects growing scrutiny within the NCP as it seeks to maintain unity and discipline amid its rising prominence in national politics.
