The five-day Hill Organic Fruit Fair concluded Saturday at the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Complex on Bailey Road with Adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Supradip Chakma, underscoring the event’s cultural and spiritual importance beyond its commercial value.

Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony, Chakma said, The Hill Fruit Fair is not just a commercial event — it is a spiritual connection between city dwellers and the life of the hills.”

He emphasized that the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts are deeply rooted in natural food traditions, and organic fruits are an essential part of their cultural heritage. “This fair showcases that tradition and offers a platform to share it with a broader audience,” he added.

The fair drew significant participation from both producers and visitors, featuring a wide range of organic fruits and produce cultivated in the region. Organizers said the event aimed to promote healthy eating habits and create greater economic opportunities for indigenous farmers.

The Hill Organic Fruit Fair, organized annually, serves as a bridge between urban consumers and the indigenous communities of the CHT, while raising awareness about the health benefits of organic produce and the need to preserve traditional agricultural practices.
