Fire breaks out at Motijheel building

A fire broke out at a three-storey building adjacent to Shahjalal Islami Bank in the capital’s Motijheel area at around 6:17pm on Saturday.

According to Fire Service and Civil Defence, four firefighting units from Siddikbazar Fire Station were dispatched to the scene and began operations to bring the blaze under control by around 6:28pm. The fire was brought under control at around 7pm.

However, the extent of the damage is yet to be determined. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be known.

Duty officer Khaleda Yasmin at the Fire Service headquarters said the fire originated on the third floor of the building.

At the time of filing this report, no casualties had been reported.
