The final results of the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination will be published today, Monday (June 30), with the Public Service Commission (PSC) expected to release the results on its website in the afternoon.
Although there was a process underway to increase the number of cadre posts by about 400, this plan will not proceed. Instead, recommendations will be made for recruitment based on the originally advertised vacant positions.
Speaking to this correspondent on Monday morning, two officials from the relevant PSC department, requesting anonymity, confirmed these developments.
They said that the PSC had sought approval to recommend about 400 additional cadre positions, which was forwarded to the Advisory Council through the Ministry of Public Administration. However, the Advisory Council rejected the proposal.
The officials further explained that the Advisory Council suggested including these vacant positions in the new BCS circular instead of adding them now. As a result, the 49th BCS is likely to offer a comparatively higher number of positions.
The 44th BCS circular was published on November 30, 2021, to recruit 1,710 officers in various cadres. The education cadre accounts for the largest share, with 776 positions.
Additionally, there are 250 posts in the administration cadre, 50 in police, 10 in foreign affairs, 14 in Ansar, 30 in audit and accounts, and 27 in family planning.
