Formula 1 and the FIA have officially announced the calendar for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, revealing a 24-race campaign set to usher in a groundbreaking new era for the sport. With sweeping technical changes, the introduction of 100% advanced sustainable fuels, and the arrival of major automotive manufacturers, the upcoming season promises to be one of the most significant in F1 history.
The championship will commence in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix from 6-8 March and conclude with the traditional season finale in Abu Dhabi from 4-6 December. Over the course of the year, F1 will visit five of the world’s seven continents, reflecting the truly global nature of the sport.
In light of Ramadan falling in February and March, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix have again been moved to April. These adjustments continue F1’s efforts to respect cultural calendars while maintaining logistical efficiency.
A notable reshuffle sees the Canadian Grand Prix moved to an earlier slot from 22-24 May, following the Miami round. This change is designed to streamline freight operations, allowing equipment to be transferred more efficiently across events, and in turn, delivering a more sustainable race calendar.
This improved geographical flow sets the stage for a more cohesive European leg, beginning with Monaco from 5-7 June and running through to Spain’s new entrant, Madrid, from 11-13 September. The Spanish capital replaces Barcelona as a late-summer venue, making its debut on the F1 calendar.
After Europe, the championship returns to Asia for the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix before heading across the Atlantic for a triple-header in Austin, Mexico City and São Paulo. The season’s final stretch includes races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and the finale in Abu Dhabi.
2026 also marks the start of a new regulatory cycle, with significant changes to car design and power units, including the use of 100% sustainable fuel. It will also welcome the arrival of iconic manufacturers Audi, Cadillac and Ford, all set to join the grid as part of this new chapter.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said:
“2026 will be a new era for Formula 1 where we will witness a brand-new set of regulations for our sport, the cars and the engines that will be powered by 100% sustainable fuel. We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar, and to see huge automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac and Ford join the Formula 1 grid.
“It promises to be an unforgettable season, where once again we will come together at 24 amazing global venues to watch the best drivers in the world push themselves to the limit.”
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem echoed this sentiment, stating:
“Next year’s FIA Formula One World Championship marks a significant new chapter for our sport. A new race, new teams, and the arrival of new manufacturers, all ushering in a fresh era of innovation and competition.
“My thanks to everyone involved in putting on this incredible season and in delivering a calendar that continues to drive the sport forward on all fronts.”
