Father, son drown in sea at Cox’s Bazar

A tragic incident occurred at Cox’s Bazar’s Simon Beach Point on Monday afternoon, as a father and son lost their lives while bathing in the sea. The incident took place at around 2 PM.

The deceased have been identified as Shahinur Rahman, 60, and his son Sifat, 20.

According to Saifullah Sifat, a senior lifeguard with CCF Lifeguards, both father and son were seen struggling in the water. Lifeguards rushed to their aid and quickly brought them to shore before transporting them to a nearby hospital.

“After being taken to the hospital, both of them began vomiting blood excessively. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared them dead,” Saifullah said.

Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Elias Khan confirmed the deaths and stated that the victims were visiting from Rajshahi. The bodies have been kept at the morgue of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Authorities are investigating the incident further.
