Bangladesh set multiple records during their Women’s World Cup Qualifier match against Thailand in Lahore on Thursday.
Captain Nigar Sultana scored a brilliant 101 off 80 balls — the fastest century in Bangladesh women’s ODI history.
Previously, this record was held by Fargana Hoque, who took 156 balls to reach her century against India in 2023.
Nigar’s century, scored at the City Cricket Association ground, is also her first in this format and the third overall for Bangladesh women — with the earlier two also belonging to Fargana.
The innings was further bolstered by Sharmin Akhter’s unbeaten 94 and opener Fargana Hoque’s 53.
With contributions from these three, Bangladesh posted 271 for 3 in 50 overs — their highest-ever team total in women’s ODIs.
The previous best was 252 for 4 against Ireland in Mirpur in November 2023.
For Thailand, one wicket each was taken by Phannita, Thipatcha, and Kamchomphu.
