A head-on collision between two passenger buses in the Karimpur, Kanaipur area of Faridpur has left three people dead and at least twenty others injured. The injured were rescued and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred around 9:30am on Thursday on the Faridpur-Magura highway, near Kanaipur in Faridpur Sadar upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of the Karimpur Highway Police Station, Chowdhury Salauddin, confirmed the incident.
According to police and local sources, the crash took place when a Dhaka-bound Royal Paribahan bus from Chuadanga collided with a local bus coming from the opposite direction. Three people died at the scene. Police and fire service personnel responded quickly and conducted rescue operations.
Additional Superintendent of Highway Police, Maruf Hossain, stated that preliminary investigations suggest the local bus may have been speeding, which likely caused the collision.
