Renowned Lalon singer Farida Parveen has returned home after a period of treatment for a serious health condition.

The celebrated artist, who had been battling multiple health issues, was initially admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to her deteriorating condition.

She was under the supervision of several medical boards, receiving treatment for kidney disease, blood infections, pneumonia, and diabetes.

Farida Parveen, who has been living with kidney disease for some time and requires dialysis three times a week, made a recovery following intensive care.

Managing Director of Universal Medical College Hospital Ashish Kumar Chakraborty confirmed on Monday night that the singer had recovered from a critical condition and was discharged to return home.

However, he cautioned that the condition of kidney failure patients can be unpredictable and could deteriorate again at any time.

The 70-year-old singer, born in Shaol village of Natore district on December 31, 1954, has had a long and illustrious career in music.

She began her musical journey in 1968, initially singing Nazrul song for Rajshahi Betar, before rising to fame in the 1970s with her renditions of patriotic songs. She later trained in Lalon song under the guidance of Moksed Ali Shah, establishing herself as one of the leading voices in the genre.

Farida Parveen’s contributions to music have been widely recognized.

She was honoured with the Ekushey Padak in 1987, the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2008.

In addition, she received the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer in 1993.

In a bid to preserve and promote Lalon song, Parveen established the “Achin Pakhi School,” where she teaches young children the art of this unique musical tradition.

Despite her health setbacks, Farida Parveen’s enduring spirit continues to inspire both her fans and the next generation of artists.
