Pakistan’s top-order batter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies after sustaining a left hamstring strain during the second T20I in Lauderhill.

The injury occurred in the 19th over of West Indies’ innings when Fakhar was chasing a ball in the outfield. Medical assessment confirmed a mild strain to his left hamstring. Khushdil Shah was his replacement in the playing XI for the third T20I.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Fakhar received immediate treatment and initial management, and he will return to Pakistan on August 4, the day after the deciding T20I. His rehabilitation will continue under the supervision of the PCB medical team at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

The PCB has yet to announce whether a replacement player will join the ODI squad.

Fakhar, 35, had made starts in both games so far, scoring 28 and 20 runs respectively, but was unable to convert those into substantial innings.

This injury echoes a similar hamstring issue he suffered at the start of the Champions Trophy earlier this year, which forced him out of the tournament after just one game. At that time, he had been called up to replace Saim Ayub, who himself was sidelined for three months following a hamstring injury sustained while chasing a ball in South Africa.
