Bangladesh U-19 have secured a spot in the final of the U-19 tri-nation ODI series with a commanding eight-wicket victory over hosts Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Friday, 1 August.
Bowling first after winning the toss, captain Azizul Haque Tamim’s side put in a dominant display with the ball. Right-arm pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon led the attack, claiming 4 wickets for just 27 runs. His fiery spell dismantled Zimbabwe’s top order, dismissing Muraji (caught by Mohammad Abdullah), Leroy Chiwaula, and Kian Blignaut. Swadhin Islam and Sanjid Majumder added two wickets apiece to restrict the hosts to a modest 89 all out in 22.3 overs.
Nathaniel Labaghana was the top scorer for Zimbabwe with 26 runs, while wicketkeeper-batter Brandon Ndiywane chipped in with 20.
Chasing a target of 90, Bangladesh made a shaky start, losing opener Rifat Beg for a golden duck in the first over to Shelton Mazvitorera. The second wicket fell at 39, with Kalam Siddique Alin departing after a quickfire 20 off 16 balls, which included four boundaries.
From there, skipper Azizul Tamim and Rizan Hossain guided the visitors to a comfortable win, forming an unbroken 52-run stand for the third wicket. Tamim remained unbeaten on 47, while Rizan contributed 21*, as Bangladesh reached the target with 209 balls to spare.
With this victory, Bangladesh moved to six points from four matches—level with South Africa, who also booked their place in the final. Zimbabwe, having lost all four of their games, are now out of contention. Even with two matches remaining, they cannot surpass four points.
The title decider between Bangladesh U-19 and South Africa U-19 will be held on 10 August 2025 at the same venue in Harare.
