The Asia Cup T20 is knocking at the door once again, and Bangladesh having won two T20I series against two Asian teams, the team is high in confidence. Behind the recent success of the team, a big reason is the intent and contributions of the openers, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon

In 2025, Bangladesh team hit 100 sixes in T20I cricket so far. In fact, Bangladesh is the first ICC full member team to have hit 100 sixes in the shortest format of the game. Among these 100 sixes, 57 have come from the bats of Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon. In this year, Tanzid hit a total of 32 sixes in 11 innings, making it almost 3 sixes per innings. On the other hand, Parvez hit 25 sixes in just 10 innings in 2025, making it 2.5 sixes per innings.

That makes it 18 and 15 runs per innings from just sixes for Tanzid and Parvez respectively, whereas many of the Bangladeshi openers haven’t been able to score 18 runs at an average per innings overall. This marks a huge change in the approach of Bangladesh from the opening point of view. In this year, Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 310 runs with an average of 31.00 and a strike rate of 150.49.

Parvez Hossain Emon too has scored 285 runs so far with an average of 31.67 and a strike rate of 158.33. A 30+ average with a 150+ strike rate maintained by both the openers – something Bangladesh couldn’t even dream of some years back. In the last 10 innings, Tanzid went past 30 runs 6 times, with his highest score being a swashbuckling 73*(47) with a display of sixes being hit down the ground, especially in the ‘V’.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim is someone who relies more on timing than power, his six over cover off spin bowling holding the pose during the 73* said it all. Head position was maintained, and the follow through with it was brilliant. Parvez Hossain Emon became the second centurion of the country’s history after Tamim Iqbal with a match-winning 100 against the UAE, and announced his arrival in style. His 66 against Pakistan in Lahore and 56* against the same opponents in Dhaka showed his immense talent, but what is more impressive is how he overcame some of his weaknesses over this period of time. His bat used to be lifted towards the top of leg stump during the back lift, making the bat-swing take more potential energy to produce power in his shots down the ground, but at the same time, it made life difficult for him when it came to playing pull shots off deliveries directed towards his body.

However, he changed his back-lift, made it point towards the top of off stump, and now, besides playing those brilliant shots in the ‘V’, which he’s so good at, he has got much better with his pull shots as well. During his 56* against Pakistan, Parvez Hossain Emon had no problems sending the short balls over the boundary by pulling them.
