Legendary singer Runa Laila’s iconic track ‘Amay Gethe Daona Mago’ has been reinterpreted by popular artist Elita Karim, accompanied by a music video directed by Shawkat Ali Rana.
The video features Elita alongside music director Faisal and was released on August 14 via Alif Alauddin’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The project is part of an initiative by Alif Alauddin, daughter of celebrated composer Alauddin Ali, and her husband Kazi Faisal Ahmed to revive five of his compositions with new arrangements as a tribute.
Amay Gethe Daona Mago is the first release under the series.
Sharing the track on Facebook, Elita expressed her gratitude, calling it “an honour” to be able to lend her voice to such a beloved patriotic song. She added that the rendition has already received positive feedback from listeners.
Speaking about the tribute project, Alif Alauddin said, “We want our father’s songs to reach the ears of the new generation. Many young listeners may not realise that the songs they occasionally hear were composed by Alauddin Ali. We have tried to maintain an acoustic atmosphere so the melody and lyrics are highlighted. The response so far has been very encouraging.”
