Abdul Hannan Masud, chief organiser of the central convening committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, sharply criticised the government’s “failure” to ensure the security of “national” leaders during a rally in Gopalganj.
In a post on his verified Facebook profile on Wednesday evening, Masud wrote: You will have to pay a heavy price for this, so will this government. A government that cannot ensure the safety of national leaders in a single district wants to conduct a national election? Control the country first.
His remarks come in the wake of violent attacks on National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders in Gopalganj earlier in the day, allegedly by activists of the banned Chhatra League and Awami League, as the NCP tried to hold its “March to Gopalganj” rally.
Security forces later rescued them.
