National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam on Friday alleged that a new conspiracy, backed by Delhi, is being hatched to replicate the political crisis of 1/11 and obstruct Bangladesh’s ongoing democratic transition.
Through his verified Facebook page, Nahid warned, “Since the banning of the Awami League, new conspiracies are being drawn up from Delhi to destabilise the country and sow further division. There is a deliberate move to hinder democratic transformation and orchestrate a scenario similar to the ‘1/11’ crisis.”
However, Nahid Islam did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged conspiracy or provide evidence to support his claims.

Nahid urged Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to uphold the promises made to the public regarding political reform, justice, and voting rights. “He (Yunus) must resolve all political crises from his position of responsibility,” he stated, adding that the credibility of the interim administration depends on its ability to deliver reform.
Calling for national unity, the NCP leader appealed to patriotic student and citizen groups to rally behind the principles of the July Movement and support reforms aimed at strengthening Bangladesh’s sovereignty. He also called on “patriotic army officers and soldiers” to be vigilant in defending the nation’s sovereignty.
The NCP convener stressed the need to announce the July Declaration as scheduled and to hold national elections within the declared timeframe.
“Before the election, a charter of fundamental reforms should be drafted. Justice for the July massacre must be visibly underway, with a detailed roadmap for legal proceedings made public,” he wrote.
Nahid further argued that elections for both a Constituent Assembly and the national legislature must be held simultaneously, paving the way for the formulation of a new constitution.
