The Election Commission (EC) has resolved more than 900,000 National Identity Card (NID) correction applications under a special crash program in the last six months.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed disclosed this information during a press conference at the Election Building in Agargaon on Wednesday.
He said, “Under the crash program, we have processed 907,662 NID correction applications in the last six months.”
Highlighting the progress of the crash program, the EC secretary further stated, “Currently, only 76,694 NID correction applications remain pending. Public grievances regarding NID services have decreased.”
He added, “As of January 1 this year, a total of 378,806 NID correction applications were pending. From January to June, an additional 605,520 new applications were submitted.”
During these six months, a total of 984,356 applications were received, out of which 907,662 have been resolved, while 76,694 are still pending, he informed.
The EC Secretary said, “The faster applications are processed, the quicker complaints of harassment and inconvenience decrease.”
He further added that since 2020, a total of 5,476,011 correction applications have been submitted to the EC, out of which 5,439,420 have already been resolved.
