Israt Jahan Korobi (23), a student at East West University, was killed when a speeding truck hit her motorcycle from behind near Dhania College in Jatrabari area of Dhaka on Saturday.
The victim’s body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy around 2:30pm.
Sub-Inspector Md Shah Newaz of Jatrabari Police Station reported: “We’ve learned that around 10pm last night, Korobi was returning to Dhaka from Konabari on a motorcycle with her friend Rabbi when a speeding truck rear-ended their bike near Dhania College. The impact threw Korobi off the motorcycle, killing her instantly.”
He added that the victim was the daughter of Abdur Rashid from Sardarpara area in Daluipur, Kalaroa thana of Satkhira district. Korobi was a fifth-semester student at East West University.
Police have seized the killer’s truck and detained driver Md Masud Mia in custody at Jatrabari Police Station.
