DUSCU: ‘Protirodh Porshad’ panel led by Emi and Meghmallar announced

Leftist student groups has announced ‘Protirodh Porshad’, a full slate panel for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, with Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Emi as vice-presidential candidate and Meghmallar Basu as general secretary candidate.

The names were revealed during a press conference at Madhur Canteen on Tuesday afternoon.

Vice-presidential candidate Tasnim Afroz Emi appealed for student support, stating, “We have formed an inclusive panel ensuring all types of representation. We urge the student voters to stand with those who have long been active in the democratic movement and support us on September 9.”

General secretary candidate Meghmallar Basu declared, “Our struggle against the forces behind the genocides of ’71 and ’24 will continue to prevent their resurgence on campus.”

He added, “The DUCSU election is crucial to strengthening the democratic movement against these oppressive forces.”

Expressing confidence in victory, he said, “Our inclusive and resistance-focused panel is deeply connected with students, amplifying their demands. We are optimistic about winning decisively on September 9.”

Nomination Updates:
Between August 12 and 18, 565 candidates collected nomination forms to contest the DUCSU elections with 1,226 candidates collecting forms for Hall Union.

As of the morning of August 19, 21 nomination forms have been submitted.
