DUCSU polls: Deadline for nomination collection extended by a day

The deadline for collection of nomination papers for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election has been extended by one day till Tuesday due to much enthusiasm among nomination seekers.

The time for submission of nomination forms has also been extended by one day till Wednesday, according to a press release issued on Monday.

It added that the decision has been taken to facilitate the exercise of democratic rights and ensure equal and fair access.

Slated for September 9, the DUCSU election has created much enthusiasm among students, and many could not collect nomination forms from their halls and the central office.

The prescheduled deadline for nomination collection expired on Monday.

So far, a total of 565 candidates have collected nomination papers in a festive mood to contest the DUCSU polls. Besides, 1,226 students have collected nomination papers for various positions in 18 halls of Dhaka University.

The final list of the candidates will be published on August 26.

For the first time, the DUCSU elections will be held outside the residential halls on September 9.
