Twenty aspiring candidates have collected nomination forms over two days for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, with five candidates vying for Vice President (VP) positions and the remaining fifteen for other posts.

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin disclosed this during a briefing at the Returning Officer’s office in the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Wednesday afternoon.

He reported that seven candidates collected forms on Tuesday (including two VP aspirants), followed by thirteen on Wednesday (three for VP). Four nomination papers have been submitted thus far. Additionally, eighteen hall union nomination forms were collected from respective halls over these two days.

“No code of conduct violations by any candidate have been reported so far,” stated Professor Jasim Uddin. He clarified that student organizations’ objections regarding the President and Treasurer posts were resolved per constitutional provisions, leaving no scope for commission intervention.

Nomination collection began Tuesday at 10:00 AM and will continue daily until August 18 (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM). The final candidate list will be published on August 26, with polling scheduled for September 9 – marking the first DSU elections to be held outside residential halls.
