Dhaka University authorities have called for the completion of all administrative tasks ahead of the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections in order to ensure maximum student participation, according to a notice issued by DU’s Public Relation Office on Tuesday.
The notice asked relevant departments and organisational bodies to ensure that the official admission process of students is completed by July 15. They have also asked students to ensure that their official ID cards have been updated as preparation of voter lists for the DUCSU elections is also underway.
Students who fail to make the updates will not be included in the voter list, in which case, they will lose the opportunity to vote or stand as a candidate in the election, DU’s press office said.
Regarding this, Chief Returning Officer of DUCSU and hall union elections, Prof Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin of the Department of Botany, issued the instructions on behalf of tDU administration. The directive was sent to all departments, institutes, halls, and offices for necessary action.
The university administration stressed that active student participation is essential to ensure a participatory and fair election.
