Dr Asifur Rahman joins DSE as CTO

Dr Mohammad Asifur Rahman, a seasoned technology expert with extensive experience in both domestic and international corporations, has joined the Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC (DSE) as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He formally took charge on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the DSE.

Prior to joining DSE, Dr Rahman served as the CTO of ASA International Group PLC from 2016 to 2023. Before that, he held the position of head of overseas operations at Smart Service Technologies Co. Ltd, based in Fukuoka, Japan (2012–2016), where he built partnerships with eight companies and universities across Australia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.

From 2009 to 2012, he was a research fellow at the System LSI Research Centre of Kyushu University, Japan.

Dr Rahman’s diverse career also includes roles as director of IT at ASA and ASA International, associate professor at the University of Asia Pacific, and manager of the Dhaka office of AngelNet Technologies Inc. (USA). He also worked as assistant programmer in the World Bank’s ETAC Data Computerization Project and served as computer consultant for the FAO Andre Mayer Fellowship Project.

A first-batch graduate of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at BUET, he completed his BSc in Engineering in 1994 and later earned a Doctor of Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan.

Dr Rahman is a life member of both the BUET Graduate Club Limited and BUET Alumni Association. His areas of technical expertise include blockchain, AI and machine learning applications for financial markets, as well as high-performance computing architectures and scalable systems for financial modelling.
