‘DNCC ready with Eid waste management plan’

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has completed all necessary preparations for waste management ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, said DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ajaz.

He made the announcement while presiding over a coordination meeting with officials and staff of the city’s waste management department at the DNCC Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on Wednesday, according to a media statement issued by DNCC.

To ensure efficient and timely disposal of sacrificial animal waste, DNCC will deploy 15 volunteers per ward during Eid, the meeting was informed. These volunteers will assist in maintaining cleanliness and supporting waste removal efforts in coordination with DNCC staff.

The administrator also announced that workers involved in maintaining city cleanliness will be brought under health insurance coverage. Addressing manpower shortages, he stated that recruitment for vacant positions would be expedited to bolster DNCC’s operational capacity.

Ajaz directed all concerned departments to ensure that animal waste is removed as swiftly as possible following the Eid sacrifices, aiming to restore normalcy in public spaces with minimal delay.

Also present at the meeting were DNCC Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore ABM Shamsul Alam along with other officials and employees from the waste management division.
