The government will allocate funds to build two new dormitories for Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from an ongoing project to build 19 dormitories for public medical colleges, Dhaka Medical College students said in a press release on Tuesday.

The announcement came after a seven-member student delegation met concerned officials on Monday as part of their movement demanding safe alternative housing and new dormitory construction.

Dr. Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief adviser, assured them of the fund allocation and promised that DMC’s dormitory project would get top priority in the upcoming ECNEC meeting in early July.

Students said they will continue boycotting classes until a clear solution is provided but expressed hope for a resolution soon.
