The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against the South Africa Emerging Team, with promising batter Shahadat Hossain Dipu named as captain.
Dipu, who has been making his mark in the national Test side, will lead a youthful and talented Emerging Team as they take on the South Africans in two four-day matches. The first Test begins on 20 May in Chittagong, followed by the second on 27 May at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The squad features several familiar names including Rakibul Hasan, Maruf Mridha, and Ripon Mondal. The batting unit will also include Ariful Islam, Chowdhury Rizwan, Pritam Kumar, Aich Mollah and Ashiqur Rahman Shibli — a group that blends experience at the junior level with fresh potential.
Bangladesh head into the red-ball series on the back of a 2–1 win in the recently concluded one-day series against the South Africa Emerging Team in Rajshahi. The hosts impressed with both bat and ball across the three matches, though Akbar Ali’s side had to overcome some nervy moments to clinch the series.
