Three more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, bringing this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 101, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the same period, 448 new patients were hospitalised, raising the total number of confirmed cases this year to 24,183. The latest fatalities were reported in Chattogram division and Dhaka South City Corporation.
DGHS data shows new cases were recorded across the country, including 95 in Barishal division, 81 in Chattogram division, 84 in Dhaka division (outside city areas), 34 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 46 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 57 in Khulna division, eight in Mymensingh division, 34 in Rajshahi division, two in Sylhet division, and seven in Rangpur division.
Currently, 1,374 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals nationwide. Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives in Bangladesh.
