Another death from dengue fever has been reported in the 24-hour till Tuesday morning, bringing the total fatalities from the disease in the country this year to 79.
The latest death occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During this period, 393 additional patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue-related symptoms, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 20,316 for 2025.
The spread of the disease continues to affect multiple regions. Of the new cases, 101 recorded in Barishal Division, 64 cases in Chattogram Division, 52 cases in Dhaka Division (outside city corporations).
Dhaka South City Corporation registered 60 new cases, while Dhaka North City Corporation had 46.
Other affected areas included – Rajshahi Division (38 cases), Khulna Division (26 cases), Rangpur Division (5 cases), and Mymensingh Division (1 case).
As of now, 1,286 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country, with healthcare authorities closely monitoring the situation.
Last year, dengue caused the deaths of 575 people in Bangladesh, with 101,214 confirmed cases and 100,040 recoveries reported.
The ongoing rise in cases has led to growing concerns about the capacity of healthcare facilities to manage the increasing number of patients.
