Dengue claims one more life

One more dengue patient died in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning, bringing the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 70 this year.

The lone death was reported in the Chattogram division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In addition, 280 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever during the period, raising the number of confirmed cases to 18,625 this year, the DGHS data said.

Of the new cases, 66 new cases were reported in Barishal Division, 45 in Chattogram Division, 44 in Dhaka Division 39 in Rajshahi Division, 25 in Khulna Division, 4 in Rangpur division and three in Mymensingh Division (outside city corporations), while 30 cases in Dhaka South City Corporation, 24 in Dhaka North City Corporation.

Some 1,308 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
