One more person has died of dengue in Bangladesh, raising the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease to 42 this year.
According to the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest death occurred between 8am Saturday and 8am Sunday.
In the past 24 hours, 383 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 136 are from Barisal Division (excluding Barisal City Corporation), according to DGHS.
With the latest figures, the total number of hospitalised dengue patients in 2025 stands at 9,867. Of them, 5,522 patients were admitted in the month of June alone.
Currently, 1,096 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals. Among them, 321 are receiving treatment in Dhaka, while the remaining 775 are in other divisions.
Outside Barisal, the highest number of admissions in the last 24 hours came from Chattogram (55), followed by Dhaka (48), Khulna (41), Rajshahi (33), and Mymensingh (10). Within the capital, 32 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka North City Corporation and 28 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Month-wise, the DGHS reported 1,161 dengue admissions in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, and 1,773 in May. The fatalities so far include 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, and 19 in June.
