Dengue: 470 new cases in 24hrs

A total of 470 new dengue cases have been reported in the last 24 hours across the country, with the highest number of patients admitted in the Barishal region, health authorities said on Tuesday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 94 people were hospitalised in Barishal division, 90 in Dhaka division outside the capital, 87 in Chattogram, 74 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and another 74 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). In addition, 11 cases were recorded in Mymensingh and six in Rangpur.

With the latest figures, the country has so far logged 29,514 dengue cases this year, while the death toll has risen to 118.

In 2024, the mosquito-borne disease caused 575 fatalities and affected over 1,01,000 people across Bangladesh.
