National Citizens’ Party (NCP) convenor Nahid Islam today demanded the formal announcement of the July Charter by August 5, during a massive post-July March rally at Abdul Kuddus Makhon Municipal Open Stage.

He said, “The people of Brahmanbaria sacrificed their lives in the 2021 anti-Modi movement. Their activism against the fascist Awami League has deprived this region of development—even though Brahmanbaria produces most of the nation’s gas, locals don’t receive a drop. Balanced progress is essential in every district.”

Nahid Islam announced the launch of the nationwide July March—the NCP’s campaign for reform, justice, and a new constitution. “We expect the people to remain with us. We are hopeful that the July Charter will be declared by August 5.” He appealed to people of Brahmanbaria to stand with the NCP in all future democratic movements.

Azizur Rahman Liton, NCP’s chief coordinator in Brahmanbaria, hosted the rally.

“Our demands are backed not by words, but by blood and sacrifice. If needed, we will rebuild Bangladesh with our lives.” Said NCP Member-Secretary Akhtar Hossain.

He demanded the state officially recognize the martyrs of Shapla Chattar and 2021 protests and bring those responsible—whom he called “fascist Awami League goons”—to justice.

Chief Organizer (South) of NCP Hasnat Abdullah warned that the Awami League seeks to regroup using the Milestone jet crash. “Parties opposing fascism must unite democratically and move toward election,” he urged. He also called for a reorganized health system to ensure “a natural death” and condemned the current government’s failure.

Senior Joint Secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara echoed calls for justice and systemic reform: “We have fought for reform, justice, and a new constitution. The Milestone crash disaster must be properly investigated; those responsible must be held accountable. We also demand improved rescue and healthcare facilities.”

Other speakers included Deputy Chief Organizer Md. Ataullah, central committee members Abdullah Alam Mahmud Jehan and Maulana Ashraf Uddin Mahdi.

In the morning, NCP leaders met with victims’ families of the 2021 uprisings at the Circuit House, reaffirming ongoing support. At 10:30 am, members visited and paid respect to martyred Madrasa student Sajidur Rahman Omar and Hifazat movement martyr Tanzil Mahmud Suja’s families, pledging continued solidarity.

At 10:45 am, a delegation led by Akhtar Hossain and Sarjis Alam met Hifazat chief Sajidur Rahman at Jamia Islamia Yunusia Madrasa. A march then began at 11:15 am from Kautli Mor, culminating in the rally. Security was tight, with additional police deployed, as the march prepares to head to Habiganj later today after the midday break.
