AB de Villiers struck a blistering 120 not out off just 60 balls to guide South Africa to a dominant nine-wicket win over Pakistan in the final of the World Championship of Legends, held in Birmingham on 27 July.
Chasing 196, the South African ‘champions’ reached the target with 19 balls to spare, thanks to de Villiers’ third century in four matches. The former Proteas skipper finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 429 runs, having also posted scores of 63, 116, and 123 earlier in the competition.
De Villiers was briefly given out in the deep during his innings, but a review overturned the decision, confirming the ball had bounced before being caught. His aggressive knock was supported by JP Duminy, who finished unbeaten on 50 from 28 deliveries.
Earlier, Pakistan posted 195 after winning the toss. Sharjeel Khan top-scored with 76 off 44 balls, while Hardus Viljoen and Wayne Parnell claimed two wickets each for South Africa.
